walaupun gitaris sekaligus dedengkot band ini, Nuno Bettencourt's mengambil gaya permainan dari Eddie van Hallen, tetapi hatinya tetap condong ke progresive rock ala Queen. seperti Beatlesque pop dan sentuhan-sentuhan lounge jazz. sebagai konsekeunsinya musik-musiknya extreme sangat sulit untuk ditentukan alirannya. bukan hanya heavy metal, hard rock atau pop ---, album-album mereka mencakup dari semua aliran-aliran musik tadi membawa semua ambisi dan kesadaran sosial yang memang pas di jamannya. Dengan album kedua mereka, Pornografitti, Bettencour tetap menunjukan rasa cintanya pada Heavy Metal tetapi masih tetap pada gaya Accoustic Ballad, "More Than Word" yang melampaui tendensi mereka.
